Prayer is a key part of our mission and ministry as we talk to our heavenly Father and bring before him the joys and struggles of life. As such we want to encourage each other in prayer with resources and opportunities to pray. The monthly magazine has a prayer calendar with topics for daily prayer, and details of the prayer chain – a network of people who will readily pray for specific needs.
We pray as part of our services on Sundays, individually in our daily lives, and we meet on occasion specifically to pray. There are opportunities through the week to do this, which are:
Tuesday afternoons 2:00-3:00pm, first in the month: Julian Group
Tuesday evenings 8:00-9:00pm, fortnightly: Julian Group
– Meditation and contemplative prayer
Wednesday mornings 10:30 – 11:30am, third of the month: Prayer for CMS
Thursdays 9:00-9:30am: Morning Prayer (usually in church)
– A more formal time, saying together a seasonal form of the daily office (with readings, responses and set prayers), including a time of prayer.
Fridays 7:40-8:30am: Parish Prayers (20 Market Street)
– A prayer meeting to bring before God the needs of the world, the church and our lives.
We are also enthusiastic about meeting in smaller groups to pray, such as in prayer triplets (do ask a member of the ministry team if you’d like some more information on this).
In addition, the church is open on Saturdays, Sundays and Bank Holidays from April to October to come in, explore and pray – all welcome. At other times, a key may be obtained from the Tourist Information Office in the Corn Exchange in Gloucester Street.
